Application Timeline

The Department of Energy Systems Engineering is composed of energy resources engineering and nuclear engineering.
The applicant needs to choose a major field of study and an advisor. The timeline below lists the approximate dates for each admission term.

Application Timeline

1. International applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • 1) The applicant is not a citizen of Korea.
  • 2) His or her parents are not citizens of Korea.

2. The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree (in case of Masters program) or a Master’s degree (in case of Doctoral program).

Certificate proving the English or Korean proficiency

Applicants must satisfy at least one of the Language Proficiency conditions listed below.

  • 1. English Proficiency: Applicants should submit a score report of a recognized English Proficiency Test. (TOEFL (PBT 550, CBT 213, iBT 80), TEPS 551, IELTS 5.5 or higher.)
  • 2. Korean Proficiency: Applicants should submit a score report of a recognized Korean Proficiency Test. (Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) level 3 or higher.)
  • 3. Supporting documents which demonstrate appropriate English or Korean language proficiency

To qualify for a degree, a student must earn specified credits during the enrollment term stated below, pass the thesis submission qualification test, submit their thesis, and have it approved.

Enrollment Term

Students must have complete at least two years (four semesters) of enrollment for a master’s or doctoral program, and at least four years for a combined master’s & doctoral program. Students may be enrolled up to four years for a master’s degree, six years for a doctoral degree, and eight years for a combined master’s & doctoral degree.
No enrollment after those periods will be allowed.

Required Credits

Students must earn 24 credits or more for a master’s degree, 36 credits or more for a doctoral degree, and 60 credits or more for a combined master’s & doctoral degree (including credits earned during the master’s program). Students must also score an overall GPA of 3.0 or above.

Thesis Submission Qualification Exam

Students must pass the major courses and foreign language tests to attain the qualification to submit their thesis.
